From Incubator to Launch: Co-Creating a CS Ecosystem

Through a Pennsylvania SMART grant, conducted from 2021 to 2022, Digital Promise partnered with Pittsburgh’s Remake Learning Network to develop a computer science ecosystem in select Pittsburgh area libraries. The project focused on developing a series of introductory computer science workshops for upper elementary and middle school media specialists using a range of block-based languages. The introduction of this block-based programming was then supplemented by follow-up work with students at their local libraries and supporting existing bridges between in-school and out-of-school learning among students and educators alike.
