INFACT: Including Neurodiversity in Foundational and Applied Computational Thinking

With support from the Department of Education’s Innovation Research Program (EIR), Digital Promise worked with the non-profit TERC from 2019 to 2022 to recruit educators to pilot a series of computational thinking activities for children (third-eighth grade) who are neurodiverse to support their wider computational and problem-solving skills. Focusing on three competencies (conditional statements, variables, and debugging) across four sequences of activities, including games and robotics, the goal is to promote persistence among young learners as well as build confidence.
