Evaluation of STEM Pioneers

Funded by the Department of Education to Indian River State College (IRSC), Digital Promise is serving as the external evaluator to implement data collection processes and reviews in IRSC's work to launch a STEM Pioneers program. This program addresses the challenges Hispanic and low-income students experience and promotes support strategies toward success, retention, and graduation in STEM fields. Aspects of the program include: STEM Success Coaches to assist with educational planning and support; Course-embedded learning assistants to help students develop competencies; Undergraduate research experiences for first- and second-year students to promote student retention and completion of their Associate degrees; Improved student awareness of services that support mental health and well-being; and more.
